Community is only being created when its members accept that they are…simply [to] live each day with new hope, like children, in wonderment as the sun rises and in thanksgiving as it sets. Community is only being created when they have recognized that the greatness of humanity is to accept (our) insignificance, (our) human condition and earth, and to thank God for having put in a finite body the seeds of eternity which are visible in small and daily gestures of love and forgiveness. Some, more than others, are capable of teaching us and reminding us of this. Galloway Friends is a respite program that works with young adults with developmental differences and delay. It is the gifts of human characteristics such as love, compassion and genuine expression, that I am thankful to be reminded of.
